Ohmygosh we are so overdue for a chat!

Isn’t that so much better than saying we need to talk? We do need to talk however, about the fact that I’m 14 days into a full month of eats sans-dairy and haven’t gnawed off my own leg in the process! If you saw my last post you know how completely life-altering is for me to give up cheese for 30 days. Cheese! My spirit animal! How on Earth is this possible!?

To be honest I’m not entirely sure, but it’s by far the most challenging New Year’s Resolution I’ve ever made. Did I mention I also gave up coffee too?

WHO AM I?!!?

By some miracle I’ve actually kept at this and can proudly say that I did not physically harm my husband while he ate an ENTIRE cheese pizza in front of me.

Though if looks could kill…

Ohmygosh so hello! The smoothie! This smoothie is AWESOME and packed to the brim with tasty pineapple, mango, banana, carrot, a splash of orange juice and a tasty blend of coconut milk and almond milk. Finish it off with a coconut rimmed glass and your morning is suddenly filled with sunshine!

This tasty tropical pineapple carrot smoothie is ready to liven up your grab-and-go breakfast routine!

This fruity tropical pineapple carrot smoothie is perfect for combatting the dreary winter blues. It’s a tasty burst of sunshine that’ll instantly transport your tastebuds into Summer-mode.  I’ll frequently make it on mornings that I have a lot of running around to do or as a snack when I need a little 3pm pick-me-up. Perfecto!

Full of refreshing tropical fruit, spiked with beta-carotene packed carrots, and splashed with almond milk, it’s the perfect treat to transport me to my imaginary deserted island.

Made of cheese.

All jokes aside, you’ve got to try this smoothie!

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond-coconut milk*
  • juice of 1 orange or 2-4 TBSP orange juice
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple
  • ½ cup frozen mango
  • ½ a fresh banana
  • 2-3 carrots (peeled and chopped)
  • sweeten as desired

  • Combine ingredients, starting with the liquid first, in your blender.
  • Blend for several minutes until the fruit and carrots have blended into a creamy, dreamy, straw-worthy smoothie.
  • Depending on preference and blender performance you may want/need to thin the smoothie with a little extra liquid. Adjust until desired thickness is reached.

Feeling fancy? Rim the glass with unsweetened shredded coconut. I used honey to make mine stick!
Using a combination of fresh and frozen fruit keeps this smoothie thick and creamy!
* Feel free to use just almond milk or just coconut milk here if that's what you have handy!

Did you freak out a tiny bit about the carrots? Don’t! They deliver all their beta carotene-y goodness to this drink without tasting like a glass full of carrot. Its subtle sweetness pairs perfectly with the juicy pineapple-mango-orange combo while the banana adds a touch of added sweetness. The almond-coconut milk combo adds a kiss of nuttiness and keeps this smoothie creamy and satisfying.

Questions & Reviews

  1. Looks great Jenn. I am sure kids would love it with all the sweet ingredients. Could easily add in a cup of Spinach and flaxseed for more nutrition and should change the taste…..although the spinach would change the pretty color of your recipe 🙂

    1. Thanks Anna! It would be fabulous with some tasty spinach and flax! You could even do a layered smoothie with a green smoothie on the bottom and this bright orange goodness on top! 🙂

  2. I LOVE the look of this smoothie. It’s the perfect way to start the day. Also can all drinks come with a umbrella?

  3. Wow, I am impressed! Maybe someday I will try giving up dairy and coffee…?? I can’t wait to try this smoothie! It looks like the perfect pick-me-up from all the snow on the ground!

  4. You gave up dairy AND coffee?? Oh my goodness- I don’t think that I could survive, lol. 😉 On the other hand, this smoothie looks amazing! Love that you added carrots to it.

  5. Wow – no cheese or coffee? The struggle must be real!! This smoothie looks soooo dreamy! I love the combo of flavors — and the color? Awesome! I just love your photos – beautiful!

    1. Thank you Patricia! And yes – I thought coffee would be harder to quit but tea makes a lovely sub right now. Cheese there is no sub for whatsoever – I miss it terribly! Wahhh!

  6. Orange is my favorite color so I think this smoothie not only sounds delicious and nutritious, it’s also really, really pretty! Nicely done!

  7. This is my kind of smoothie! It’ so pretty and I’m certain it’s delicious.
Just got added to my smoothie list.

We love smoothies in our house and will be trying this. Sounds like a refreshing and energizing after-workout drink too. Thanks for posting.

  9. Absolutely perfect to brighten up a cold winter day!! Love that you added carrots! I’ve juiced with them before, but I haven’t added them to smoothies and now I don’t know why not!

  10. Okay, are we the same person?! I follow a vegetarian diet and the only thing that stops me from going vegan is CHEESE! It is my weakness! I am so impressed you got this far into the month because I would not have 😉 This smoothie looks so good and something I would definitely need to quench my sweet tooth.

    1. I used to joke that I’d lose my muffin top (aka spare tire – aka too-much-love handles) if I could just ditch cheese for a while. Well sure enough the happy side effect of doing Whole30 and low FODMAP elimination in the same month is finding out just how true that is! Lemme tell ya, I cannot WAIT to eat cheese again in two weeks. BRING ON THE CHEDDAHHHHH!

  11. I love that you put an umbrella in your smoothie! Perfect way to pretend I’m on a tropical island somewhere 🙂

  12. I would love to know how much sugar is in this smoothie. Mango is literally the most sugar laden fruit in existence followed by the remaining fruits in this smoothie. Carrots contain a ton of sugar and then on top of that adding orange juice and more sweetener is suggested as an option. I’m sure it tastes good but this smoothie cannot be considered a healthy drink.

    1. Hi Tara! Completely understandable! In my mind it’s healthier than drowning already sweet pancakes in a mountain of sugar or eating a chocolate chip muffin that has as much sugar as a frosted cupcake, ya know? It’s a whole food option and that’s more my focus.

Wow that looks amazing! I’ve never tried adding carrot into a smoothie before. Seems like a great way to get more veggies in!
