We love this spicy ranch seasoned fire crackers recipe! This crazy addictive snack features mini saltine crackers seasoned to perfection and baked until crispy.
This sassy saltine recipe goes by so many names: Alabama Fire Crackers, Spicy Ranch Crackers, Seasoned Saltines, and even Comeback Crackers.
Do you call it something different? I love how this tasty little snack has so many aliases!
My 6-year-old simply calls them “spicy crackers” and, though she thinks they’re way too spicy to eat, she somehow can’t stay away when my husband and I are snacking on them.
Like clockwork she fans her face, chugs her water, then bashfully sneaks over for another. It’s hilarious to watch and we totally agree that these crispy seasoned crackers are downright addictive!
So if you’ve had them before you already know the deliciousness that’s in store, eh?
If you haven’t, say hello to your latest snack obsession!
Mini saltines are tossed in a blend of buttery avocado oil, flavorful ranch seasoning, and spicy cayenne and crushed red pepper flakes for maximum fire and flavor. I also like to add a little garlic powder and dill to mine – it’s optional but SO. FLIPPING. TASTY.
As written they’re probably about a touch above “medium” on the spice scale. They’re not too spicy but have a delicious little zing to them.
For thoroughly spicy crackers you can add extra cayenne and red pepper flakes.
serving suggestions
It goes without saying that these sassy seasoned fire crackers can certainly be enjoyed straight up.
If you’re looking to include them in a snack spread or as part of an appetizer, they’re AMAZING with cheese balls like my famous Jalapeño Popper Cheese Ball or even my Buffalo Ranch Cheese Ball.
You could also serve them with a cool creamy dip as part of a veggie tray or alongside a delicious bowl of Pimento Cheese!

I made these and they are good, but very salty.
I made these as an alternative to a recipe my mother uses and fell in love! I get requests for them every year for Christmas and my own family expects them to be a staple around the house! They are amazing.
Ahh yay! I’m so honored that your family has been loving and requesting them. So cool!
Question. Can you is white cheddar chees it’s?
Ooh that may be fun! I’d say it’s worth a try as the seasoning would compliment.
Can I use vegetable oil?
Hi Angie! Vegetable oil will work.
Can you use coconut oil instead of avocado?
If you’re okay with a slight coconut taste totally go for it! It has the same crisping properties as the avo oil. I’ve also had luck with melted butter.
These crackers are yummy and easy to make. I can’t stop eating them.
Yay!! So glad you’re loving them Anita. I think I might be making another batch this weekend — my daughter and I crave them constantly!
Hi!! Is there a way to make this recipe without the oil?
Hi Janet! I’ve seen people use butter before but for a butter/oil free cracker you may want to experiment? The main challenge is getting all the yummy seasoning to stick.
How long can these be kept in the plastic bag?
Hi Grace! I use the plastic bag as a way to massage the seasoning blend and oil into the crackers and then pour them out and bake them until lightly toasted. I’ve seen recipes where you let the oil and spices soak into oyster crackers in the bag overnight but I have not tried that yet with the mini saltine crackers.
These are a family favorite! Always requested for us to bring to our get togethers. So tasty and easy!
So glad they’re a hit! xoxo
Such a delicious idea! I could eat the whole batch by myself!
It’s hard to stop munching once you start, lol! So good!
These were just delicious! Thank you so much for sharing, huge hit with my family!
Ahh yay! So stoked y’all enjoyed them Noelle – thank you!
These snack crackers pack a little punch! Easy to make and even easier to eat! Kiddo and hubby approved if they like a little spice!
