These veggie and cream cheese tortilla pinwheels are SO easy to make!

Spread a burrito-sized tortilla with your cream cheese spread and top with a sprinkle of grated carrots, minced red bell pepper, chopped broccoli, and grated cheddar cheese.

Start at the edge of the tortilla and roll it, tightly, until you reach the opposite side.

The cream cheese will help it stick! Fasten with a toothpick or two and chill in the freezer for 20 minutes to set. Cut into pinwheels and serve with all your favorite lunch box fixin’s!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped veggies: broccoli, carrots, red bell pepper
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • cup mayo
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp dried dill
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • tsp black pepper
  • 2 large burrito-sized flour tortillas
  • ½ cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 2 TBSP chopped green onion

Instructions

  • Choose and chop your veggies. I mince mine extra small so there's a little bit of everything in each tasty bite.
  • Allow cream cheese to soften for easy mixing. In a medium bowl, combine cream cheese, mayo, garlic powder, dill, salt and pepper.
  • For easy rolling, microwave tortillas for 15-20 seconds first. Spread on cream cheese mixture and sprinkle evenly with veggies, cheese, and chopped onion.
  • Start at the edge of the tortilla and roll it, tightly, until you reach the opposite side.
  • The cream cheese will help it stick. Fasten with a toothpick or two and chill in the freezer for 20 minutes to set.. Feel free to chill overnight in the fridge (tightly wrapped or in a storage container) if making these in advance for easy. meal/snack prep.
  • All that's left is to slice into pinwheels and serve!

Notes

The “cook time” is actually chill time. Chill your rollups in the freezer for 20 minutes for easy slicing and to help them keep their fun pinwheel shape.
You can make these the night before for easy packing/snacking and simply store chilled in the fridge until ready to slice and serve.

These were so good!! I’ve never tried a roll up but I’m glad I did. Question, are the nutrition facts per whole roll up, slice?

    1. So glad you enjoyed them, Cherie! The nutrition facts are per slice/pinwheel if you used the burrito sized tortillas and then cut 9 slices per roll up.

  2. These are great! I think i would use less garlic powder next time, ended up needing to double the cream cheese to make them less garlicy. Otherwise, delicious!

By adding a couple of minced green onions, this spread rivals my fav bagel store’s veggie cream cheese. It’s worth tripling for breakfast – your fam will thank you!

I made this recipe this week…not something I would usually try. I’m so glad I did. These are great! (A bit salty for my taste from the mayo I assume), but absolutely delicious! Will definitely be making these again, but may replace the mayo. My guess is this would be awesome with flavored hummus as the spread. The veggies in the recipe were a perfect combination of flavors, but I did add red onion because I love it. Thank you for this healthy lunch idea.

I’ve made these so many times since finding this recipe a few months ago. I make them for myself as the kids are long grown and gone. Sometimes I use full fat cream cheese sometimes I use reduced fat, whatever I have on hand. So far my favorite veggie combos are broccoli ,shredded carrots, red peppers, and green onions but I feel like the sky is the limit! I’m thinking next time I’m going to try with some cucumbers. Thank you for this delightful recipe!

  6. I love these and they have been great during pregnancy, lol! How long would these last in the freezer if I wrapped each individually before putting in a freezer bag? I’d love to prep them for postpartum!

    1. I’m so glad you’re loving them, Nicole! I think longer term freezing might affect the veggies upon thawing but the best way to find out is to experiment with a single roll-up and see how the taste and texture holds up?

I have a full collection of freezer friendly recipes that are great for postpartum prep. The breakfast burritos and soups/chilis were a fav of mine! Freezer Friendly Recipe Collection

      PS: Congrats! ❤️

    1. Hi Cecile – just saw this and I’m happy to help troubleshoot! Were all the vegetables raw? What kind of cream cheese did you use? (full fat, lowfat, fat-free) Any other details you have will be super helpful so we can figure out what went wrong.

Not only were these fun to make, but they were delicious! Thank you for this veggie-centered idea for school lunches! Will be making these a lot more.

This was so delicious, and my husband had a fantastic idea to use the spread as a dip for chips. So of course that is going to happen in our near future! We made the recipe as described; however, instead of cutting it into pinwheels, just left them rolled as a wrap. We each had a wrap for dinner, along with cold cucumber soup. Perfect for a hot South Florida summer night! Thank you for a great recipe, and we will certainly be making this again! (Esp. that spread as a dip)

  9. Thanks for this recipe. I made it to take to a retreat. I doubled it, used sour cream instead of mayo, added a sprinkle of cayenne pepper, and macerated the onions in rice vinegar. I had extra cheese mixture so combined it with tuna. Yum.

As a roll-up sandwich, they’re very rich. Too salty for me. I’d eliminate the mayo next time. I added thin slices of avocado. I was hoping they’d be better.

Sounds great! Do you think this would work as a meal prep recipe to sit already cut up in the fridge for a few days? Or would it get mushy?

    1. I’ve haven’t fully tested having them in the fridge for more than 24 hours but it’s worth testing for sure! Maybe if the roll (before cutting) is tightly wrapped in plastic or parchment you could get an extra day in there? Keep me posted if you give it a try!

  12. I made this recipe 3 times. The first time I didn’t read the recipe right and mixed all the veggies, cream cheese, etc. all together and put on the tortilla wraps. The 2nd and 3rd time I made them, I followed the recipe, putting the cream cheese layer, then topping with veggies and cheese. My way works so much better! My way sealed them much better and they stayed together beautifully.

I used fiber one garden veggie wraps, substituted the Mayo for plain Greek yogurt, used ranch seasoning, and added turkey for a protein packed lunch. Absolutely delicious! Thank you!

  14. I’ve made similar before, but added a thin slice of ham and turkey to them. Made them for part of our regular Sunday dinner or finger foods at an old people’s, mostly all were 60 and over, neighborhood type bar. I think I made at least 60 of the individual pinwheels. They were eaten up and many asked for my recipe. I couldn’t tell them as I actually didn’t have one.

  15. Everyone loved them. But when I make again I would not put in freezer just put in refrigerator. I think that made the shell to moist.

These are delicious! I substituted plain Greek yogurt for mayo and added little cayenne pepper, and other spices to taste.

It’s super delicious, we prepared the recipe once at school in the cooking class and everyone was absolutely thrilled.

Excellent recipe. Made them with sour cream in lieu of mayo. Added 2 stalks green onions, green bell pepper, and carrots. The sauce was a bit lumpy after mixing by hand but was fine in the final product. Delicious! We ate them for lunch! Next time, I might use some yellow and red bell peppers instead of the green, but that would be just for color. Thanks for the recipe.

    1. Love this – I’m obsessed with sour cream lol! For sure experiment with those veggie mix-ins – it’s fun to have a bevy of different colored veggies in there. Thanks Jeanne!

I made these today, but forgot to put on the green onion. I am sure they will be delicious even without it. I made the cream cheese mixture, and added the cheddar to that and mixed it all up. That in itself would be great on a bagel.

    1. So stoked you tried the recipe, Mary! You’ve 100% got to try the filing on a toasted bagel – it’s deeeeeelish! xoxo

I doubled this recipe and took to a Christmas party. Everyone loved them and wanted recipe. Definitely a make again.

My cousin made these for a family gathering and they were a hit! So delicious! She shared the recipe with me and I plan to make them soon.

    1. Hi Brenda! I have it calculated appetizer style so the nutrition info in the recipe card is per pinwheel when you slice the recipe into 18 rounds. The portion can be much larger of course but I wanted to make it easy on everyone to calculate for how many they eat. Hope this helps! xo

These are delicious! Made a double batch for our annual Christmas Eve gathering with family and they disappeared fast! Family requested them again a week later for NYE! Thanks for a great recipe!

If you want to avoid the dairy or eggs in cream cheese and Mayo you can use kite Hill or miyoko’s cream cheese which is a cream cheese alternative plant-based version. It’s really good!

    1. Hi Tori, I think so! The mayo is what makes the cream cheese more of a spread so I would try using whipped cream cheese to see if that helps?

  23. I’m so glad your kiddos are loving them! I taught my 7 year old how to make them so we can have these alllll the time! Love them so.

This was the bomb diggity dog good! I stated at recipe and decided, “Oh why not? You have all the ingredients!” So glad I did. That hit the snack gremlin in the face! Pow!!! 😄

Loved these roll-ups! I used neufchatel cream cheese, they were delicious. Thanks for the recipe.
