This delicious Pesto Whipped Feta Dip makes a delicious spreadable appetizer that is great on fresh vegetables, pita, crackers, and fluffy baguette slices. It also makes an amazing sandwich spread!
Lately I’ve been seeing whipped feta EVERYWHERE! It’s all over Pinterest, Instagram, and even in restaurants as a tasty appetizer to spread on pita bread.
I decided to give in and create my own spin on this delish dip with a little green goodness added to amp up the flavor and take this creamy spreadable feta dip to the next level!
Pesto to the rescue!
As written this pesto whipped feta recipe is vegetarian, gluten-free, grain-free, low-carb, and keto friendly. Simply choose the corresponding dippers that fit your dietary needs and you’re good to go!
Feta Dip Ingredients
- feta cheese
- fresh garlic
- Greek yogurt
- homemade or store-bought pesto
- extra virgin olive oil
Seriously — that’s it!
Whenever I make homemade pesto, I drizzle a little olive oil on top to lock in the freshness and freeze the pesto it in small jars or in an ice cube tray. This way I always have pesto on hand for pasta recipes, soups, and appetizers like this one!
This particular batch I photographed recently was made with defrosted arugula pesto and it absolutely rocked my socks!
Tools Needed
First up, you can 100% make a rustic mashed feta dip using only a bowl and a fork. True story. Whenever I’m feeling lazy and don’t want to do extra dishes, this is my go-to method. Smash then mince the garlic and crumble the feta first before fork mashing it into the remaining ingredients and you’re good to go!
If you prefer a smoother, creamier dip use your favorite food processor, blender, or immersion blender and blend/puree until gloriously smooth.
Pesto Whipped Feta
This easy peasy recipe is amazing every which way! Try it on fresh veggies, pretzels, crackers, pita chips, fluffy flatbread wedges, crostini, torn baguette, and more!
It also makes a pretty mean sandwich spread if I do say so myself!
Store leftovers in fridge in an airtight container for 1-3 days and break it out for breakfast as a bagel spread, for lunch as a sandwich spread, and for dinner as… oh… the container is empty… Time to make more!
Feel free to customize the above measurements to suit your tastes. You can use cream cheese in place of the Greek yogurt and add extra pesto and/or garlic if you’re up for the flavor blast! Start with the recipe as written then add extras of your favorite elements after taste testing the dip.
You can even be fancy and simply and whisk some pesto with your favorite olive oil and drizzle it over whipped feta as a garnish or use it to top whipped feta on toasty crostini for a fancy appetizer or snack. Crushed red pepper flakes also make a colorful and spicy garnish. Have fun with it!
This pesto whipped feta is really good on torn or sliced french baguette and surprisingly amazing on pretzels once your baguette seems to vanish into thin air.
That being said, make sure you keep both handy when you (quite literally) whip this up!

SERVING SUGGESTIONS + DELISH DIPPERS
One of the best parts about making feta dip is serving it with a mountain of healthy dippers! Here are some tasty options for you to choose from. Mix and match your favorites!
- carrot sticks
- cucumber sticks or slices
- sweet mini peppers or bell pepper slices
- celery sticks
- broccoli
- cauliflower
This dip is also amazing on fresh sliced baguette (this is how my fav FL deli serves their feta dip so it totally reminds me of home) fluffy pita and/or pita chips. You can also serve it with assorted crackers.
The star-shaped lavash flatbread crackers I used in the photos are by Valley Lahvosh and come in stars, hearts, and rounds. They’re super fun for snack boards, mezze platters, and antipasto inspired charcuterie!
I recently updated the OG recipe with a few improvements that really rocked my socks. If you’re looking for the original recipe with spinach, I’ve included it below:
- 8 oz feta cheese
- 1/3-1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 TBSP quality olive oil
- 1 TBSP pesto
- 1 clove fresh garlic
- ½ cup fresh chopped spinach
Combine ingredients in a food processor, blender, or use an immersion blender! Whip/puree until creamy and proceed to spread it on everything in sight!

Oh, that looks wonderful – thank you!
We can get really good Bulgarian feta very inexpensively in my neighborhood – but I don’t really do much with it other than salads – and I’ve wanted to. And I want something protein to spread on bread to eat along with a soup that needs a bit of a boost.
And there are so many ways I could make somethign like this… hmmm… though I’m definitely starting with this one!
Oh yea I definitely love my pesto. This dip would blow my mind.
I just got Costco-sized containers of pesto AND feta this weekend!! Perfect timing! Sounds delicious 🙂
