Ingredients
2pkghummus, approx. 2 (10 oz) containers or 2-3 cups homemade
3cupsfinely chopped romaine lettuce
2cupsdiced tomato
1cupfinely diced bell pepper
1cupchopped cucumber(peeled and seeded) plus extra to taste
¼cupsliced black olives(optional)
¼cupGreek yogurt
1/2-1cupcrumbled feta cheeseplus extra to taste
¼cupchopped green onion
DELISH DIPPERS
carrot sticks and/or celery sticks
thinly sliced bell pepper and/or cucumber
fluffy fresh pita wedges
pita chips
Instructions
Spread hummus in a thin later on a serving platter.
Finely chop all your veggies.
Add Greek yogurt (or tzatziki sauce - yum!) to a piping bag or plastic bag with a corner edge to it. Cut the end of the bag and pipe a spiderweb pattern in the center. I start out with a vertical line down the center followed by an intersecting vertical line. Add diagonal lines (almost like your making pie slices) then finish up with the web detail. I find it helps to look at a photo while I pipe the design!
Now that we have our spooky spider web, surround the hummus with your chopped veggies. First the lettuce, then remaining veggies, then a sprinkling of feta and green onion. You can add as many toppings as you'd like here!
Top with a few creepy plastic spider rings and your awesome appetizer is complete! Surround with your choice of dippers (crispy pita chips or fluffy fresh pita are my favs) and enjoy!
Notes
Feel free to use any flavor of hummus here! I love using garlic hummus or roasted red pepper hummus as my base - SO GOOD!Optional extras include a drizzle of Greek Dressing to dress the veggies around the edge or try it with a tasty drizzle of sweet balsamic glaze! You could also dress the greens with a drizzle of your favorite olive oil before serving.Fresh dill and/or parsley make a tasty garnish, if you have some handy!Nutrition Facts below are estimated using an online recipe nutrition calculator. Each serving is a typical suggested serving size of 2 TBSP of hummus, plus toppings. Adjust as needed based on choice of dippers and enjoy!
