What I Ate Wednesday Sushi + Shenanigans

My sister is in town! Eeeee! The chickpea and I are out of our minds excited! The little party animal even woke early which means I need to keep today’s shenanigans short and sweet! Don’t worry – there’s sushi!

and bagels, duh.

What I Ate Wednesday #219

Everything Bagel and Cream Cheese

[breakfast] An everything bagel with cream cheese and some fresh watermelon that I may or may not have swiped off chicken little’s plate. Shhh!

Homemade Sushi: Avocado Roll

[lunch] homemade sushi [click here for my tutorial!] with sriracha, smoked salmon, avocado, cream cheese, red pepper and cucumber. We were feeling fancy so they got topped with extra avocado. I felt like I won the lottery with this particular avocado, it was so perfectly GREEN! #jackpot

There were at least 3 of these bad boys but I was too busy shoving them into my face while I took photos of this particular roll. This is totally how my process goes with nearly every recipe I post on the blog. I plate some to snap photos of while shoveling the remainder into my face between shots. Occasionally I’ll plan ahead and make myself a snack but I much prefer claiming quality control by eating the recipe I’m photographing. It gets a bit out of hand sometimes and I’ll eat my subject matter way too quickly and have to make it all over again. If I confessed the actual number of times this happened it’d be too embarrassing.

aka I lost count. Oops!

Spaghetti and Green Beans

[dinner] spaghetti, homemade sauce, and green beans – simple and delicious!

Enough about me, let’s talk about you! Party time!

Speaking of parties, say happy birthday to Katie + Lindsay when you get a chance!

I always read this after my breakfast and I always want to have another breakfast when I am done. That bagel is gorgeous. And yes, bagels can definitely be gorgeous!

Alyssa @ Renaissancerunnergirl

Just bought some bamboo sheets and nori and am going to try your sushi tricks for a dinner later this week – those photos make me anxious to get started!

Ashley @ A Lady Goes West

Yummy! I have to have avocado in my sushi rolls — never made them at home though. Happy WIAW! 🙂

I am a bit intimidated by the whole homemade sushi thing. But I feel I need to try this soon. After teasing us with so many mouthwatering sushi pictures…..

Laura@ Fit Running Mama

Seriously IMPRESSED with your homemade sushi ability!

Debbie Rodrigues

It has been a long time since I last tried to make sushi. I love it!
I rarely cook something awesome, but when I do, I eat it right away and there goes my pictures too. 😛
Looking forward joining #WIAW more frequently.

Michele @ paleorunningmomma

You’re killing me with that bagel! I’ve yet to find a good gluten free one sadly. Thanks for hosting, and your meals look incredible as always 🙂

Sam @ Grapefruit & Granola

I was seriously just sitting here thinking that it had been way too long since I have had a bagel…. with lots of cream cheese, of course.

Ooh, I’m swooning over your eats and that you get to hang out with your sister! Gotta love those two things! xoxo, ganeeban

I love that you make your own sushi! It looks yummy!

    Thanks lady!

Danica @ It's Progression

I never used to care for bagels until I got pregnant and now I want one at least once every week!

    Babies love bagels. Do it!

I had a bagel for dinner last night, alongside a chocolate smoothie. Great minds think alike.

Yummmmm…. sushi. This brings me back to when we lived in California. Where we could not afford the sushi nor the rent! LOL. Sometimes we went with the sushi, and that’s why we live in Virginia now. Hah! I will definitely teach my girls to make this stuff when they are older and can whip it up for me while I run after the toddlers!

I haven’t had the chance to live in Cali yet [though I agree, it’s super $$$ from what I hear!] but I’ve lived in VA and LOVED IT! The sushi and the rent are absolutely better on the east coast! I’m starting my little on the sushi making as soon as she’s old enough. Sushi parties are in both our futures! woot!

Wells Thomas

I love your voice, by the way, and how upbeat this blog is. The name of it is just so perfect! =)

    aww thank you!!!!!

I want to join in on WIAW-Do I simply write a post with the title or is there something specific I need to do? How do I get my page to show up on the WIAW post? I know, this is probably a dumb question. I just don’t know how to link up my page! Any help would be great 🙂

Hey Maria! There’s lots of WIAW info here to get you started. You’ll want to come back over to the WIAW party post and click the blue “add your link” button to add your What I Ate Wednesday Party for the week. It’s super easy, promise!

Thank you! Where is the blue “add your link” button? Do I have to have the InLinkz tool enabled? I’m sorry I’m just confused!

It only appears on the WIAW party post when the party is active on Wednesday-Thursday so you won’t be able to see it until it’s actually WIAW. No worries. It’ll be there!

          Awesome thanks again!

          No problem! <3
