These healthy game day recipes are easy and delicious! Ditch the deep-fried chips and frozen apps and whip up these veggie-centric dips, finger foods, and snacks for the big game.
Healthy Game Day Recipes
Yup. I’m going there!
Everyone and their brother from another mother blogs a token Game Day Round-Up as Super Bowl Sunday approaches.
Usually you’ll see a lot of football-shaped cookies and cakes, a bevvy of fried meats and cheeses, dips destined to clog your arteries the second you look at them, and balls.
Oh the balls! Cheese balls, meat balls, cake balls, and balls of chicken dripping in buffalo sauce… This is where I get to be different and try to convince you to veg up your game day spread.
I’ll even throw in some nachos for good measure!
Ready to get your game day grub on?! Let’s do this!
Stuffed Sweet Potato Bar
Instead of spending your day scooping out potatoes for deep-fried potato skins, why not set up a stuffed sweet potato bar and let everyone pile on their favorite toppings?
Simply bake up a tray of spuds and wrap them in foil to keep them warm while you wait for everyone to arrive. You can serve up whole potatoes and feature it as the main dish or slice them in half for an appetizer-sized portions. This tasty and customizable game day treat is sure to win over your friends and family, especially those who are a little bit picky about what they’ll stuff in their face!
Here are some of my favorited stuffed spud combos:
1. Cheesy Black Bean Stuffed Sweet Potatoes
2. Vegetarian Chili Stuffed Sweet Potatoes
3. Buffalo Chicken SSP
4. Mexican SSP
5. Taco Stuffed Sweet Potatoes
Pile them high with veggies, salsa, beans, guacamole, cheese, bruschetta topping, shredded chicken, veggie chili, and so much more! Your savory stuffed sweet potato bar is sure to be a touchdown!
BONUS :: If you don’t mind slicing a few, these Sweet Potato Nachos are beyond amazing!
Healthy Game Day Dips
Don’t forget to serve up a dip that won’t send your guests into a mayonnaise or velveeta coma!
Skip the calorie bomb cheese dip and swap it with a Greek-yogurt based Cilantro Cucumber Dip and replace store bought ranch dip with a Healthy Veggie Dip.
I’m personally a huge fan of making a giant veggie tray for everyone to graze on throughout the game.
Add a few dips from the list below and have fun with it!
