Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dessert Wontons are an epic dessert inspired by a local Japanese restaurant and sure to become a new favorite! These tasty chocolate won-tons are easy to make and even easier to eat!
A while back I asked you all what kind of recipes you couldn’t get enough of.
It was almost overwhelming how many requests I got for sweets, treats, and “anything with sugar!”
Peas and Crayons is all about the veggies… but nevertheless I wanted to put a smile on your sweet faces for being so amazingly supportive of me and for just overall brightening my day. So I set off to bake something fun, something interesting, and something that I could make without setting the oven (or myself!) on fire…
BRING ON THE COOKIE DOUGH!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dessert Wontons
This recipe makes anywhere from 6-20 dessert wontons – I made 6 and the cookie dough magically disappeared when Paul got home. He may or may not have been found hugging the ball of cookie dough in bliss. I may or may not have joined him in eating it.
It was magical.
They’re a super close copycat to the restaurant I’m copycatting, but they fried the won-tons. Noooot on this blog, buddy! Let’s faux-fry them, shall we? I have an awesome baking technique up my sleeve!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dessert Wontons
Ingredients
- ½ cup flour
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ cup butter; softened
- ¼ cup light brown sugar
- ⅛ cup granulated sugar
- ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp So Delicious Coconut Milk or Creamer
- 1 cup of Hersey's Special Dark chocolate chips
- 20 Nasoya wonton wrappers (or less if you plan on eating half the dough. *ahem!*)
- powdered sugar + extra chocolate chips for topping
- olive oil cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375F.
- Combine flour and salt in a small bowl.
- Using an electric mixer, cream softened butter (alone) until light and fluffy. Add brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla to butter. Beat well.
- Add coconut milk (or cream) to mixture slowly while beating. Next slowly add the flour while mixing.
- Stir in chocolate chips + viola! Cookie dough!
- Back off the cookie dough! Make sure some of it actually makes it into the wontons or you can scratch the entire project right off the bat and sit down on the couch with your marvelous creation. But at least make a couple wontons... They're fun and crunchy!
- If you want a cookie-doughy center refrigerate the cookie dough for 15-30 minutes before baking. For a warm cookie dough center, simply assemble and bake.
- To prep the wonton wrappers, lay flat and moisten fingers with water. It helps to have a little cup of water handy while assembling the wontons.
- Run your finger along two sides of the wrapper to moisten, and add a small dollop of cookie dough to the center of the wonton.
- Fold into a triangle and press, the thin layer of water should act like a glue and help you press the edges into little pouches.
- Seal em up and pop them on a wire grilling rack, cooling rack, or whatever else they call the sheet below. Haha! If you don't have one, know that they are absolutely genius and you should totally start stalking amazon.com for one =) True story.
- My favorite technique ever for crispy veggie "fries", mozzarella balls, and crispy wontons is to layer a wire grilling rack onto a foil lined cookie pan. Its like pizza... if you want a crispy crust, you toss it right on the rack, right? Same concept... Same glorious results.
- Brushing the wontons with butter or olive oil will work, but the crispiest, most evenly golden results were achieved with a super light spritz of the spray. Luckily there are natural ones available, just read your labels to make sure you're getting the "good stuff!"
- After spraying, bake for 10-12 minutes or until gorgeously golden brown.
- Melt a few chocolate chips and drizzle over the wontons + dust with powdered sugar for a pretty snazzy dessert.

so… how were they!?
Simply delicious! The wonton portion was light and crunchy and the creamy cookie dough turned into a cookie around the edges with a gooey doughy center. It was a fun combination of textures and I can’t wait to make them again!
My friends have been going BONKERS over these chocolate kissed dessert won-tons.
DELISH DIPPING SAUCES
Chocolate Sauce
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
In a medium-size microwave and heat-safe bowl, melt chocolate and heavy cream on high heat. Microwave for 1 minute on high heat, stirring in 20 second intervals, or until chips are smooth and creamy.
Raspberry Sauce
- 1 pint fresh raspberries
- 1⁄4 cup water
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 TBSP cornstarch
Mash the raspberries with water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add sugar and cornstarch then bring to a boil, stirring constantly to prevent sticking/burning. Once vigorously boiling, reduce heat and simmer 2 minutes. For a smooth sauce without seeds or chunks, strain sauce through a sieve or fine mesh strainer into a clean bowl.
Serve sauces with a fresh tray of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dessert Wontons and dive in!
These were easy and yummy. Reminded us of cannoli.
They turned out well and are super tasty! I used white chocolate chips instead of chocolate chips. They overflowed a little as I think I added too much dough.
Hi..
Can they be assembled then baked later??
Hi Cheryl! I haven’t tested out advance prep with these so I can’t speak from experience yet. Let me know if you give it a try!

Looks AHHHMAZING! How do you come up with these things?
How did you know I would just eat most of the cookie dough and end up with very few wontons? Cookie dough is my major weakness 🙂
I still need to buy a wire grilling rack–it is a travesty that I do not have one yet!
These look absolutely fabulous. Unfortunately I’m not sure if my baking expertise is up for it. Maybe I’ll casually show this to my husband and see what happens. 🙂

See!! You can bake! And they look so yummy!!
Oh MAN those look amazing. I think it would be hilarious to put those out undecorated at a potluck dinner and watch as people expecting wontons suddenly figured out that they are a dessert… Ok maybe that’s just funny to me.
These look amazing Jenn! I’ve told you before, I’m a complete sucker for cookie dough!
“Pimpin’ ain’t easy… But Faux-Frying is! <3” <- Haha! Love it!

My fav dessert: Banana flambe (or foster) with some bite-sized browines and ice cream. A resturant in my town serves this, and it’s absolutely divine.
YUMMYYYYY!!!!!
This is so clever. I never would have even remotely thought to put cookie dough in wontons! I’m so curious to try them. And thanks for the tip on getting things crispy in the oven, too. Why have I never thought of that?! Makes perfect sense.
Girl can you please bake more often? Holy yum these look fabulous!! I could eat all of them 🙂
I love pretty much anything in a wonton and these look fabulous, girl!! I am going to have to try your faux fry technique too – I love the crunchy. 🙂
Omfg :O Please come bake this for me…=D
